ALPHA - Route des Lasers & des Hyperfréquences® (ALPHA-RLH) is a newly formed technology cluster specializing in photonics, lasers and microwave technologies. It is the result of a merger on 1st January 2017 between two French competitiveness clusters, Route des Lasers and Elopsys.

Jean-Pierre Giannini, director of CEA-Cesta and former chairman of the Route des Lasers cluster, has been elected chairman of ALPHA - Route des Lasers & des Hyperfréquences. Hervé Floch, former general director of Route des Lasers, has become general director, and Thomas Colombeau, former director of Elopsys, has been designated deputy director.

Based in Bordeaux and Limoges, the ALPHA-RLH cluster is focused on 6 strategic activities and one cross-disciplinary activity:

The knowledge base of the cluster is formed from 2 technological fields: Photonics-Laser (laser sources and processes, optical components, instrumentation) and Microwave (integrated electronics, radiocommunication systems, radar systems).

They are supplemented by 4 strategic applications:

  • Health (medical devices and autonomy): imaging, diagnosis and therapy techniques, technological solutions for people who have lost their independence,
  • Safety and communication: components or systems for data transmission, data and network security,
  • Aerospace and defence: embedded optical/ optoelectronic systems, innovative solutions for shaping materials, communication, navigation, and lighting,
  • Energy and Smart building: solar technology, lighting solutions, energy efficiency, energy storage, connecting or connected devices for buildings.

Digital technology represents a cross-disciplinary activity that feeds all the strategic activities of the cluster. It covers digital interfaces, image processing and synthesis, data security and sharing, along with intelligent connecting objects.

The ALPHA - Route des Lasers & des Hyperfréquences® cluster supports you through:

  • Access to individualised support on innovation projects up to financing;
  • Participation in collective international shows (export);
  • Technology watch and expert information;
  • Expertise and a network of national and international scientific and industrial partners;
  • Increasing your reputation and resourcing your technologies;
  • Working on your development within an economic security framework.
