Competencies

PIEZOTECH designs, electroactive fluorinated polymers and inks

Electroactive fluorinated polymers

The rich chemistry of fluorinated polymers permits the combination of the high electronegativity of fluorine with the variety of materials’ crystalline morphologies.

This range of polymers offers new functionalities for organics electronics electronics: piezoelectric, pyroelectric, high permittivity They are developing in a wide range of applications: sensors (P,IR, US)…actuators (Haptics, printed speakers, microfluidics...), high-k Dielectrics for OTFT etc…

Piezoelectric Copolymers

PIEZOTECH FC is a range of copolymers using vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and trifuoroethylene (TrFE). These copolymers can be printed (screenprinting coating, spin-coating...) to obtain piezoelectric devices that generate an electric current when distorted, and the reverse. Similarly these materials generate an electric signal during temperature variations (pyroelectric effect). These materials are the object of numerous developments for printed sensors (pressure, temperature),flexible ferroelectric memories, speakers, microphones, energy Harvesting, actuators for haptics...

Relaxor Terpolymers

PIEZOTECH is developing a new group of electroactive fluorinated polymers (PIEZOTECH RT). These have unique properties, combining:

  • High dielectric permittivity (up to 50),
  • Strong mechanical properties (elastic module up to 500Mpa),
  • Major distortion when an electric field is applied (up to 7%).

These terpolymers offer new possibilities for flexible electronics, in particular for the production of actuators and high-k dielectrics for OTFT.
